Alyssa Sugiyama
CELLO
Alyssa Sugiyama is a 15-year-old cellist from Queens, New York, and a rising sophomore at The Spence School. She has been studying cello since age 7 and currently studies with David Geber at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division.
Alyssa started Bow & Blossom because she wanted music to reach beyond the concert hall, to find its way into the places where people need connection most. The idea didn't stay hers alone for long. Her younger sister Emma, also a cellist, and her best friend Abby, a violinist, soon joined in, and together they've been bringing that vision to life.
Fluent in Japanese, Spanish, and English, Alyssa has always been fascinated by how music, like language, can close the distance between people, cultures, and generations. That belief traces back to her grandparents in Japan and to countless hours spent playing music alongside her siblings growing up. For Alyssa, every performance is a chance to create something lasting: a moment of warmth, of memory, of togetherness.
Abigail “Abby” Huang
VIOLIN
Abigail "Abby" Huang is a violinist from New York City and a rising junior at The High School for Math, Science, and Engineering. She picked up the violin at age 5 and currently studies with Jungwon Yoon at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division.
Abby joined Bow & Blossom as a musical partner, bringing the sound of the violin into an ensemble rooted in warmth, connection, and shared performance. Known for her musicality, strong work ethic, and excellent sight-reading skills, she learns new music quickly and collaborates thoughtfully with fellow musicians. Abby adds color, energy, and flexibility to the group's programs, helping create performances that feel heartfelt, familiar, and meaningful for audiences across generations.

Emma Sugiyama is a 12-year-old cellist from Queens, New York, and a rising eighth grader at Buckley Country Day School. She picked up the cello at age four and currently studies with Alex Croxton.
As Alyssa's younger sister and a fellow cellist, Emma became part of Bow & Blossom through their shared love of making music together. An excellent solo performer as well as a thoughtful and responsive chamber musician, she brings warmth, sensitivity, and a strong sense of collaboration to every ensemble. For Emma, music is also a way to make friends, bring joy to others, and share her naturally warm and caring spirit.
Trilingual in Japanese, Mandarin, and English, she loves connecting with people of different backgrounds and generations, and through this project, hopes to share music that feels joyful, familiar, and meaningful for each audience.
